About Mama Mama
When I was little my mom sang in the supermarket aisles while shopping. Did yours? I hated it. I just wanted to go in, buy my Archie comic and chocolate bar and get out. But she was bold & brave... so what was I supposed to do to stop her?
Mama Mama is an examination of the relationship between me and my mom. My mom’s photos span from age 18 to 40. Through these recreations of photos throughout her life I can see we’re very different, but also quite similar. My mom had many lives in many places. A musician in the East Village, a design director in San Fransisco, a mom in Manhattan, a production manager at Esquire, the owner of a yarn shop in Upstate NY. The list goes on.
People ask me if my mom is a role model and if I want to be like her. She had a wild life and has lots of stories. I hope mine are wild too.
